Board work in Stiftelsen New Hope Reseindustrins Barnfond/The New Hope Travel Industry Children’s Fund

The board consists of a minimum of six and a maximum of fourteen  members and the term of office is two years. New Hope Travel Industry Children’s Fund is based on voluntary work and no fees are paid for board work.

A small association like New Hope Travel Industry Children’s Fund needs many different skills to drive the business forward. First of all, we need board members with a genuine interest in international aid work and development. In addition, experience in finance, administration, sales and marketing is needed. A large, personal network of contacts facilitates the work of the board.

New Hope Travel Industry Children’s Fund’s selection committee: Annika Hultgren and Andreas Näsman take gladly accept proposals for board members.

1. The board’s overall role and responsibility

The board of The New Hope Travel Industry Children’s Fund is tasked with collecting and distributing funds to suitable charities so that they can assist needy children all over the world on the ground. For its help, the board has volunteers, volunteers standing outside the board and ambassadors.

Board members, ambassadors and volunteers are expected to observe good, morally defensible behavior in all contexts, regardless of whether they directly represent New Hope Travel Industry Children’s Fund or appear in other contexts.

2. Role and responsibilities of the chairman

The chairman is elected by the board and has the task of leading and distributing the collection work and the distribution of gifts. The chairman is the one who primarily represents New Hope Travel Industry Children’s Fund externally. No compensation is paid, the chairman works on a non-profit basis.

3. Member’s role and responsibilities

Each member has an area of responsibility within the board, and is responsible for following up and reporting on the work or tasks he or she has been assigned. It is up to all board members to work for the dissemination of information about New Hope’s fundraising work and recruit new donors. No remuneration is paid, members work on a non-profit basis.

4. Dealing with conflict and independence

The board member must not be personally involved in any of New Hope Travel Industry Children’s Fund’s aid projects, as this could cause disruption in the distribution of gifts.

Should a private relationship still exist or arise with someone on the board, this is not reason enough for the foundation to withdraw from the project. However, in such a case, the board member in question is disconnected from decisions about the aid project and awarding of gifts.

5. Rules for how minutes should be kept

The board appoints a permanent secretary from among the members. It is primarily the secretary who takes minutes of all board meetings and files the signed originals in running order.

The minutes follow a fixed agenda and distinguish in particular the formal decisions made by the board, so that these must be easy to identify.

Each minute is signed by the secretary and adjusted by the chairman and an adjuster elected at each meeting.

The annual meeting minutes are adjusted together with the chairman by two adjusters elected at the annual meeting.

6. New board members

At each annual meeting, board elections are held for The New Hope Travel Industry Children’s Fund. The members are elected for a term of two years, which means that half are elected one year and the other half the following year, to ensure continuity in the board’s work.

7. Appointment of new board members

The nomination committee selects candidates for the board through outreach activities and the collection of recommendations. Here, commitment, special knowledge and general suitability are taken into account.

Board members may not appear in the criminal record or have payment notices.
